Have you decided to get a canine assistant?

How to do it? You have to take the first step so that we can learn about your wishes.

Write to us or call

As soon as we learn that you are interested in a canine assistant, we will send you an application form and a form for a doctor to recommend a canine assistant by email or by post. After receiving this completed application, the doctor’s recommendation, a copy of your ZTP/P, ZTP, or TP card and a copy of the decision on the degree of dependence, we will invite you to the earliest possible interview date, where we will discuss all your and our questions with you. Our psychologist, psychiatrist and social worker, together with dog assistant trainers and specialists, will explain everything you need to know about the arrival of a canine assistant in your family, what changes it will mean for you and your family, and your rights and obligations. If everything is found to be in order, you will be sent a detailed questionnaire to order a canine assistant. This questionnaire is quite extensive so that we can learn as much information as possible about your disability, the environment in which you live and the style in which you live, so that we can choose a dog that will meet your needs and requirements and then prepare it exactly according to your needs. At the same time, our specialists will visit you at home, or at work or school, to assess whether the environment is suitable for a canine assistant, and help you remove everything that could be dangerous for the dog (e.g. poisonous plants, harmful substances, holes in the fence, etc.). If everything is found to be in order here too, or deficiencies will be eliminated, your application for a canine assistant will be approved.

But it does not end there, on the contrary, it begins.

While your canine assistant will learn tasks that will make your life easier, you will also learn everything you need to create a functioning team with your dog. During the training, you will also meet and get to know your future four-legged assistant.
The training will end with a final exam in front of an independent judge, and then you can expect a phone call from our employee, who will arrange a handover date with you and invite you to practice with the dog. You will be invited to the training client’s house, where you will spend the first week with your four-legged partner. This week is very important because it will allow you to establish contact with the dog, which is absolutely crucial for all the following years of your life together. Then the trainer, or in cooperation with your physiotherapist, doctor, spatial orientation trainer, social worker, etc. You will be trained with your dog at your place of residence. This is a situation that is very advantageous to you, because the dog is currently in an unfamiliar environment, but it will already know you well, so it will fixate on you more easily even in the home environment and will perceive you very well. The trainer will spend several days with you and will travel to you for the time needed for your perfect training with the dog. If your health condition does not allow training with your dog in a foreign environment (severe forms of autism, etc.), the trainer will come with the dog directly to your home after successfully passing the final exam.

At the end of the successful training, you will have to pass the Dog Behavior Test in Public (Accessibility Test) according to international standards, to prove that your dog not only helps you, but that you can have it fully under your control in public, in short, that you have already managed to create a trained and functioning team with your dog. Of course, our mutual obligations do not end with the successful passing of the test, you can contact us at any time and request advice and assistance, throughout the entire period of your dog’s active service.

If you have not done so yet, we recommend that you, before requesting to send an application for a canine assistant, carefully study the important information on this website, especially the information under the tabs Homepage, About us and Canine assistants.
